I had the same problem, my GFX card was broken. I bought a new one.

Might be expensive to replace that card D:

Brand new card, 1 day old. There were no artifacts last night, then some this morning.

Contact ATI, or whatever company you purchased it from and see what they have to say. If its a bad card, you should still have a warranty and have no problems replacing it.

I have an ATi Radeon X1600 Pro and found that after awhile I started to get many artifacts and such while doing nothing at all at times. I bought a new fan for it and POOF, worked like a charm. ATi's seem to have crappy fans and overheat many times, may, or maynot be the same in your case.

Sounds like you stumbled on a crappy card unfortunately, your best bet is work with the customer service and get a new one since it's probably under warranty. This might be hard depending on ATI's customer service, never had to use ATI's customr service so i don't know if it's good or bad. I'd rule out overheating since you temp is withing acceptable rates.

Many of ATI's older cards fans were set to very low fan speeds by default. Friend of mine had the problem and just downloaded a program to up his fan speeds and it fixed it.

I tried that as well, ATi has an Overclock Program you can set fan speed also, but buying the new fan/sink was the best choice.
